ABOUT ME
HELLO
Dear human, welcome to my blog, a space where storytelling meets travelling.
My name is Demir, and I am a 26-year-old Master’s student at Aalborg
University. Growing up on a sunny island in Croatia, I was involved in tourism from a young age. This shaped both my curiosity about foreign cultures and my constant personal beef with the ugly sides of tourism.
I believe that travel writing encapsulates the widest scope of our experiences and what it means to be alive. As such, it can help us look deeper into the world, and within ourselves. I have learned that the internal and external are in constant interaction, a cosmic dance between us and the unknown, which we often find out is not as foreign as we might have believed.
This is not a traditional travel guide. You won’t find “10 must-sees” or “hidden gems” here, at least not intentionally. I do not write about making a living as a travel writer, how to travel full-time, or best places to “live” in as a digital nomad. Instead, I write about my own experiences: long-distance hikes through wild landscapes, the usual existential problems of a young backpacker, or reflections from studying abroad. From time to time, I also take a wrong turn into fiction or poetry.
This blog is a living testimony to the process of documenting travel and turning experience into expression. At its core, the aim is to document the wonders of wandering and honour the beauty of travel through the art of words.
I welcome you to follow me on this cosmic journey into the unknown, within and without 🙂
Randir is a Sindarin word meaning “wandering man, pilgrim”, or “wanderer” (Tolkien Gateway).
